What was new in earlier versions of DDClip

DDClip Pro 3.06
Fixed bugs:
- Fixed playback of AVI files compressed with Microsoft RLE video codec
- Fixed bug with message "Internal Error: Invalid parameter" on start of playback of AVI files compressed with Microsoft RLE video codec
- Fixed crash when changing size of "Video" window during playback from half size to larger size via menu of "Video" window
- Possible crash when opening very large AVI files (gigabytes) with loss of GUI resources
- File read exception when playing AVI files compressed with some codecs (like DivX ;-), caused message "Playback fatal stop"
- Very rare crash caused by "Echo" audio effect placed on track
- Opening audio effects list on tracks and entire project by single-click is allowed during playback too (if it is enabled in "Settings/Effects")
- Master audio effects functions (add, edit, copy, drag-n-drop etc.) were disabled on current time window in DDClip Pro by mistake
- Copying of audio effects via drag-n-drop from track to clip on the same track was disabled by mistake
New features:
- If "Ctrl" key is hold down when copying audio effects via drag-n-drop, effects list dialog is opened immediately after copying
- If "Ctrl" key is hold down when pressing "Stop" button in audio effects list dialog, playback is stopped, current time position is returned to start of track or clip (depending on where effects list was opened)
and playback is restarted immediately. It also allows you to rewind current time position without closing track audio effects list dialog
Miscellaneous changes:
- WAV files created with MusicMatch Jukebox are opened normally.
It is not a bug, because this program writes invalid length of RIFF chunk to a WAV file created with it
DDClip Pro 3.05
Fixed bugs:
- DDClip SE: FadeIn/FadeOut commands were inaccessible from local menu (but were available from keyboard shortcuts) by mistake
- Program exception (AVI export thread) when exporting portion of an AVI file compressed with video codec with frame interference (like MPEG)
- Fixed problem with incompatibility with Adobe Premiere (AVI files created with DDClip had no sound when opened in Premiere)
- When "Properties" dialog in Clip Collection was closed, a random window was activated (not DDClip)
- Information about large (gigabytes) files is shown correctly (data size, data rate etc.)
- More stable opening of source files with very large amount (gigabytes) of data, reduced memory usage when opening large files
- Much faster opening of very long (some hours) video AVI files
- Improved video playback performance (reduced number of dropped frames in some cases)
- Opening projects from network places (remote computer)
Miscellaneous changes:
- Sound statistics: "-Infinity" instead of "-999 dB" is shown for zero level of sound (silence)
DDClip Pro 3.04a
Fixed bugs:
- Writing incorrect header info when saving AVI files with sound. It caused that AVI files created with DDClip have no sound when trying to play them with other programs

- Resolved problems with background filling of waveform pictures of audio files, DDClip is never locked when main window is minimized during playback etc.

New features:
- Audio effects can be copied via drag-n-drop: move mouse cursor over triangle (that shows presence of audio effects) on clip, track or current time window,
press and hold left mouse button and drag effects to other clip, track or current time window (for master effects)
- Added "File/Move all" command: allows to copy project, clip collection and all source files to other directory, and remove all original files (from their original locations)
- Added "New project" dialog where all main parameters of project can be defined (project size and audio/video properties)
- Added different modes of launch of external applications (audio/video editors etc.):
DDClip can wait until execution of external editor is finished or DDClip can be locked and unlocked manually after file is saved in editor (read online Help for details)
- Added mode "Playback entire project" (see "Settings/General") that allows to playback project until its end by "Play" command (not end of current project view)
- "Faders" and "Video" windows can be placed always on top or minimized to taskbar (see "Settings/Audio meter" and "Settings/Video")
- Profile and its points can be moved with PgUp/PgDn and Up/Down arrow keys on keyboard when mouse cursor is on profile
- Clip volume/pan can be changed with PgUp/PgDn and Up/Down arrow keys on keyboard when mouse cursor is over clip (not profile)
- Clip volume can be shown on clip under clip's name (see "Settings/Audio")
- Added "Normalize volume" command for audio clips
- Added "Select source file" command for clips (selects all clips in project that correspond to one source file in Clip Collection)
- Resulting file can be inserted to project, clip collection or external editor after export (see "Insert to" in Export dialog)
- DDClip can be paused and minimized during long-time operations (export, normalize etc.)
- Added new type of mark "Stop playback" on timeline (not on clips): when current time reaches such marks, playback is stopped
- Added "Delete track" command in local menu of audio tracks: allows to delete current track and move all tracks below it up
- Added "Insert track" command in local menu of audio track: allows to instert new blank track before current one and move all tracks below it down (also available via 'Ins' key on keyboard when mouse cursor is at left of track)
- Added "Zoom to clip", "Set range to clip" and "Expand range to clip" commands in local menu of clip ("Range" submenu)

- Significantly improved audio resampling quality when exporting resulting audio with sample rate different from project.
With 'High' quality preset there is almost no harmonic distortions in resampled audio even in 24-bit quality without any
decrease in speed of resampling (real-time preview is still available).
- Audio recording dialog shows if current audio format is supported by your soundcard for recording or not.
If not, "Record" and "Prepare" buttons are disabled.
- Audio effects can be added/deleted in effects list with 'Ins'/'Del' keys on keyboard (when focus is set to list of effects)
- Clips can be moved with mouse from tracks to project overview window
DDClip Pro 3.02
Fixed bugs:
- Removed clicks at ends of clips
- Corrected "Duplicate track" command (creates copy of track with all clips, track volume/pan and track audio effects)
- In full zoom (press "/" key on numpad) entire project can be played to its end (last 1/4 ... 1/2 of a second was not played in some cases)
- "Save all" command shows progress bar correctly even if full size of all source files exceeds 2Gb
- Fixed some bugs in audio recording, corrected real-time DC adjust during recording
- AIFF files are saved correctly
- Removed quiet clicks in equalizers
- Fixed crash when opening large projects (decades of minutes or longer)
- Fixed bugs with very long names of source media files (128 characters or longer)
- Fixed some other bugs that caused program crash, the program is now more stable
New features:
- New hot keys for many editing operations: split clip, fadein/fadeout, add profile point, change height of tracks, add/edit audio effects and others
(read "Accelerators" section in on-line help included with the program). Now work with DDClip is faster and more effective
- Exporting resulting audio with any sample rate (not only the same as in project) using fast and high-quality resampling algorithm, real-time preview is available
- Added "Insert" button in audio recorder: allows to record many takes and insert them to project without closing recording dialog.
Names of recorded files can be incremented automatically (for example, "Sound00.wav", "Sound01.wav" etc.)
- Added "Sound Statistics" command for one clip
- Added "Enable all tracks" command (turns off all Solo/Mute on all tracks)
- Added support of Adobe Premiere EDL scripts (projects can be imported/exported in EDL format),
please note that many project parameters (such as audio effects) can not be saved in EDL,
you should not store all your work in EDL instead of TML (internal format of DDClip)
- Added separate color for waveform of non-selected clips
- Added color for background of empty track, see "Settings/Colors"
- Clip volume can be shown on clips (if it is not 0 dB), you can turn it on/off in in "Settings/Audio"
- Selected range or its boundaries (start/end) can be moved with mouse

- If "Alt" is pressed before adding/moving profile points, it is done without changing of profile value
- Frequency/phase response of audio effects: when you type any value in edit boxes (positive/negative range in dB, min/max frequency),
diagram is updated automatically (you don't need to click on diagram to update it after typing values manually)

DDClip Pro 3.01
Fixed bugs:
- Export to file now works correctly
- Opening of compressed WAVE audio files does not crash program
- Parametric equalizer always shows correctly its dialog after deleting any instance of this effect
- Marks always have correct names after opening project (empty names too)
- Marks can be placed at exact edges of clips; mark local menu is always accessible
- Project opened after other one with different framerate does not have a sign that it is changed just after opening
- Small fix in frequency response drawing
Miscellaneous changes:
- Audio meter: in mono mode both peaks can be cleared with single click
- "Ctrl"+click at blue indicator of selection range clears selection; local menu is also available

DDClip Pro 3.0
- Increased number of audio tracks (up to 32)
- Fixed problems with playback/recording audio in 24bit/96 kHz format, now it works correctly (tested on Digital Audio Labs CardDeluxe in all modes up to 24bit/96kHz)
- Waveforms of audio files are filled in background when you add new audio file to clip collection or open project without clip collection.
You don't need to wait until waveform is filled and can start work just after inserting new audio file to project.
You can see progress of waveform filling in status bar
- Improved recording dialog: now you don't need to set new file name before recording and can set it after.
You can also select recording device just from recording dialog
- Improved full duplex recording: you can set current time position (vertical red line) to desired place and when
you start recording, playing is started from current time position. Recorded audio clip is also inserted to project at this position
DDClip Pro 3.0 Beta
Beta 3:
- Effects list on clips, tracks and project can be called by single click on triangle mark showing presence of effects (open "Options/Settings/Effects" to change it)
- Dithering algorithm is now several times faster
- Smooth and fast redrawing of frequency and phase response of effects and response of parametric equalizer
- Improved sound statistics: now it shows not only decibels but also sample values
- Auto compensate DC offset of audio files (optional - you can turn it on/off or set DC manually in file properties in clip collection)
- Auto compensate DC offset when recording audio (optional)
- Mark comments: you can add any text to mark and it will be shown when mouse cursor is on mark
- Added multiple audio files export of audio for preparing audio CDs (note that you should make 44100 Hz/16 bit/Stereo project for CD audio).
You can set marks of special group "Export separator" (set it in "Mark info" local menu on mark) to mark beginning of audio track(s).
Then select "File/export/multiwave" menu and type name, for example "track". You will get audio files with names "track01.wav", "track02.wav" etc. that you can record to audio CD.
Length of files is adjusted to 1/75th of one second so you can record audio CD without pauses between audio tracks (note that your CD recorder must support "Disk at once" mode to do this!).
Important: Please do NOT email us any questions about how to record CD and basics of CD audio. Read carefully documentation included with your CD recorder and (for example) this CDR FAQ - excellent large document with answers to a lot of questions about CD recording

Beta 2:
- Dithering for conversions from 24-bit (32-bit float) to 8/16-bit sound (optional for playing and export to WAV/AIFF/AVI file) with rectangular, triangular and Gaussian p.d.f. noise (see "Options/Settings/Audio" menu for playback dithering and "Options" button in Save dialog for choosing export file format and dithering). Please note that dithering requires additional calculation time
- Reorganized folders in "Options/Settings" for dithering options, settings for audio devices moved to new "Devices" folder
- Fixed bug with message "domain error" so you can open project "Boy Lite" in DDClip Pro
- Sound statistics added (info about maximal/average level, RMS level, DC offset, number of clipped samples) as "effect" for realtime statistics. Changed "Command/Check overflow" command to "Statistics": now it shows levels/overflow and non-real-time statistics too
- Used corrected filters in equalizers (graphic/parametric) with high/lowshelf filters (see frequency and phase response of equalizer)
- Advanced work with presets: when you open dialog window of any effect and current effect parameters are equal to any preset its name is shown in "Presets" edit box. When you add a preset and its parameters are equal to any existing warning message box is shown

Beta 1 (new since 2.xx versions):
- High quality 24-bit sound processing (in 32-bit float format)
- Playback/recording sample rate is limited only by possibilities of used sound card (96 kHz or more is available)
